  1. Thanks so much for publishing this information. Invaluable. I’m not a coffee drinker & I knew many other products contain caffeine, but I most certainly did not realize the content was so high in the beverages you cited.
    I will be much more cognizant of caffeine content from this point on. Thanks, again.

  2. The ‘downside’ of caffeine labeling will be marketing to teens as ‘we have the most ‘energy’ content-sort of thing. Teens will buy by looking at the label for the largest caffeine number. Caffeine amounts will increase rapidly. Then time release caffeine will be developed.

  3. One of my guilty pleasures in life is an occassional 5 Hour Engery Shot (only once every couple of months, after a stretch of over-time shifts at work). Now that I see how much caffine it has, I am curious why, after the four or five hours of the caffine high wears off, I don’t “crash”? Monster, Red Bull, and the others all make me feel really tired after the caffine wears off (hence I don’t drink them at all). What makes 5 Hour Energy last longer with less of a crash? What other chemicals am I putting into my body to produce this “no crash” effect in drinking these?

  4. I am a three-cups-a-day coffee drinker. I have been for decades. And with all the ongoing studies suggesting the health benefits of this beverage especially in reference to preventing or slowing some of the diseases of old age,I will probably never give it up. But since caffeine can affect some people for up to 12 hours,I feel the formulation of a quick release/short duration caffeine product would do well on the market. Such as a beverage you could use as a quick pick-me-up in the late afternoon that wouldn’t affect that evenings sleep.

  5. So glad I don’t use any of these products. Parents must be vigilent…caffeine is everywhere! Let’s drink what’s best….good old-fashioned H2O.

  6. Too bad that the full story of the adverse effects of caffeine are not mentioned. There are studies that have shown it can lead to addictions to alcohol, and possibly other drugs, can increase the chances of miscarriage, just to mention some of the adverse effects that can be found in a careful search of the medical literature
