All of the recalls linked to a whey powder ingredient
Check your cupboards: Pepperidge Farm on Monday announced a voluntary recall of four varieties of Goldfish Crackers distributed throughout the United States. No illnesses have been reported.
The company was notified by one of its ingredient suppliers that whey powder contained in a seasoning in the crackers may be contaminated with Salmonella, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, older adults, and others with weakened immune systems, says the FDA. (Healthy people infected with Salmonella often have fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.)
Pepperidge Farm’s recall applies to four varieties of Goldfish—Flavor Blasted Xtra Cheddar, Flavor Blasted Sour Cream & Onion, Goldfish Baked with Whole Grain Xtra Cheddar, and Goldfish Mix Xtra Cheddar + Pretzel—that carry the UPC codes and sell by dates indicated in the manufacturer’s chart.
Have one of these packages at home? Don’t eat it. Throw it out, return it to the store where you bought it for a refund, or request a reimbursement from the manufacturer.
